Anyone know of some resistance training for the neck?

Question:

I don’t have a gym membership but I’ve figured out ways to train most of my body at home. One thing I struggle with is my neck. There are nice machines at the gym for training the neck, but I don’t know of any ways to do this at home. Does anyone have any good neck training techniques other than just pushing on my head with my hand?

Good piece of kit that i use is a head harness. It’s like a strap that fits round the forehead with chains on each side that you hang weight discs on. You bend over and raise your head to do the back of the neck, then swivel it round to each side and do each side of the neck. Lying on a bed or bench with the weights behind the head means you can do the front of the neck.
Shrugs are good too. Dumbbell in each hand and roll them from front to back and back the other way. Upright rows work the shoulder and neck area well.

Put some weight in each hand and do some shrugs. This will build up your trapezius muscle (the ones that take up most of the back and go up the back of your neck).

Tie a rope to a dumbell, at one of the ends. Then use a towel to wrap around the area you are going to grip with your teeth. Lift your head up and down while keeping your posture straight as you sit down on a bench. Keep moving your head only up and down, with your teeth biting onto the towel wrapped around the rope tied to the dumbbell. Keep doing as many as you can. Just dont strain it.
