Can I count boxing as resistance training?
Question:
I just began going to boxing class. The class is all the training you would do as a boxer just without the actual fighting. We use the big bag, gloves and everything.
I usually do resistance/weight training every other day. But when I box my muscles hurt as if i had been doing weights. Is the contact in boxing the same as resistance training? And if so, should I count my boxing class as my resistance training for the week?

Boxing is a workout, but the thing is this. Really, what muscles do you use to box? I’m no qualified fitness instructor, but you are the one that knows what really best for you. Also, keep in mind this. Do you honestly know what you can do or can you really give more then 100% on doing something.
I’m prior military and really what’s basic training. Working on muscles until they fail and eventfully finding that inner strength that provides more when you need it!
No, think about it this way even football players, wrestlers and many other contact sports have to supplement resistance training into thier workout…if your muscles are truly sore you can still lift but decrease it to two days a week or so and go with lighter weights, less reps/sets or the parts that don’t hurt the most
