I won't discount dumbbells, but you can't get a complete body workout with them. However, that depends on what you want your workout to do. I suggest resistance bands for some good reasons. You can take them any where and never miss a workout, even if you only take one band. Get the kind like Bodylastics. They have clips on the end so you can customize your workouts. You'll be able to work every muscle group from head to toe. You can even get some free live workouts here.

Arms - push ups are great, Pullups work well, Dips are good
Legs- Squats
Back - Pullups
I'd invest in some dumbells, you can two 10lbs at Target for like $19.99 that opens a whole lot of doors BUT body weight excercises are effecient too.

The rubberbands also work well (better, I think, than dumbells)
