Can you help me pick and choose from exercises so that I don’t “pleateau”?
Question:
I bought the exercise DVD “10 Minute Solution” and the exercises are 10 minutes each so I like to do them everyday, BUT if I keep on (from what I understand), pretty soon my weight and muscles will not improve anymore, correct? These are what I’m doing -
Boot Camp (aerobic and weight training)
Pilates (abs)
Kickboxing (legs, arms, abs)
Yoga (flexibility)
In addition to this, I do another 13 minute leg exercise routine on a separate machine, plus a few more weight training exercises for my arms.
How should I form my exercise schedule?
IS it alright for me to do them everyday, and if not, which ones CAN I do everyday and which ones should I alternate?
FYI i’m a 20 year old female, 5 2″ and 115 lbs.
My goals are to get sculpted abs, arms, and inner thigh muscle plus become more flexible
Answer:
Yup, your body will get used to doing the same thing over and over again, especially if you keep using the same amount of resistance. You need to rest your muscles between workouts to allow them to heal and get stronger and to avoid injury. That doesn’t me you can’t exercises every day, just don’t workout the same muscles every day. Click here for some free exercise workout shows from Bodylastics.

You have a nice mixture of exercises that will work all three aspects of physical fitness: strength, cardio endurance, and flexibility. You will eventually have to alter your routine somewhat to avoid plateau. It can be as simple, though, as adding in repetitions, adding weight, or trying a few new exercises. You can do most workouts each day, but where weight training is concerned, you will want to rest muscles worked for a day in between working them again. You can still workout each day, though, just switch up which muscle groups you work each day.
