Use Your Resistance Bands Anywhere

Resistance bands anywhere anchorToo many people underestimate the capabilities of resistance bands.  The first thing they do is stand on them and do biceps curls and think that’s the extent of it.  It’s funny to watch, actually.  It’s like handing someone a flower – you know it’s going to go straight up to the nose.

With the use of a door anchor, resistance bands can be used at various levels (above head, chest level, floor level) allowing for such exercises as side bends, ab twists, triceps extensions,  chest flies, chest press, hip extensions and so many more.

Some time ago Bodylatics introduced the Anywhere Anchor (show above).  It can be used to wrapped around sturdy posts, medium sized trees, fences and the like.  Just slip the bands through the loops and slide the anchor up or down the post to the preferred height level and have at it!

Losing Weight After Having A Baby

Suggestions For Postpartum Weight Loss

By Nicole M Lewis

‘Postpartum’ refers to the period right after delivering a baby or babies, to that matter. It is during such period that a new mother feels so down or depressed, mainly due to the tiredness after more or less nine months of pregnancy including the labor and childbirth itself, and also due to the overwhelming feeling of a great responsibility of taking care of a baby. More so, a big factor to this sudden blues is the reality that she has gained weight, and this negative feeling may linger on for so long if nothing will be done about it.

Even during her pregnancy, a woman should have regular exercise, and Lamaze classes may help. This is to ensure that her whole body is very ready for the occurring changes which will be highlighted with the childbirth. If this is the case, then workouts after delivery will be easy. But, if she cannot have exercises during pregnancy because of medical or personal reasons, there must be concrete plans of ‘catching’ up after delivery.

Postpartum weight loss must target the entire body, with the abdominal area as the focal point. Because of the severe stretching, the uterus has sagged, and this must be targeted. Gyms have specific workout regimens for new mothers which guarantee their ‘former shapes’ back. But, some moms may simply have no extra time to go to the gym; hence, home exercising should be undertaken. There may be commercially-available workout equipment or just makeshift ones.

Workout videos may be purchased for a step-by-step guide. If not, around five minutes of warm-up stretches by extending the arms upward then bending them one at a time to slightly touch the opposite shoulder blade is advised before and after each workout session, at least thrice a week. Then, aerobics with light weights should follow for about thirty minutes, also jumping and jogging in place. Strength training may be done after. All these must be coupled with proper diet.

Some mothers who have not done formal exercises attest that by just personally taking care of and having short walks in the park with the baby, plus breastfeeding, contributed a lot to their postpartum weight loss. With this, many other moms advise the new ones to take it easy. The most important thing is to ensure proper care of the baby, rather than just focus on losing weight. But, if both can be done simultaneously, the better.
