Exercise and dieting are not working for me. Why?
Question:
I’ve been working out a lot more now like 6 days a week. I do 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minustes of resistance training a day. My day usually consists of fruit, whole grains, lean meat, veggies, nuts (natural almonds) and water.
I don’t understand? I feel so discouraged ![]()
Any advice?

that’s how it’s supposed to be my dear. you usually don’t lose anything…and actually will gain a little lbs from adding muscle…and THEN you will start to see the pounds melt away =]
Don’t be discouraged! Keep it up and be consistent!!!!!
I started losing weight 7 weeks ago, yesterday.
The first week I lose 3 lbs. Then my weight didn’t budge for 11 days. I was pretty upset, because I was only eating 1800 calories a day. on the 12′th day, I lost 2 lbs. 13′th another 2.
Anyway, after 7 weeks, I am down 16 lbs. What I have discovered is that after really hard workouts, my muscles will swell and hold more water (and grow in size as well) and though I am losing fat, my weight may actually go up as my workouts improve. My weight loss always occurs on days when I drink 3+ liters of water and have an off day at the gym.
Keep up the good work and know that it isn’t really about the weight, it is about becoming more fit.
You are doing it right by the sounds of it.
It may be that you are building muscle as fast as you are losing fat (which is good!!), and as we all know from grade school health class, muscle weighs more than fat. Give it more time, don’t be discouraged!
remember that muscle weighs more than fat. I was working out hard but not losing any lbs, actually i gained weight. But pants fit better, shirts looked good on me. Don’t worry about the number on the scale, it’s all about being healthy. Also, give yourself another day of rest so your body can repair and burn fat. Rest is needed!
You’re doing the right stuff, also look on your resistance training and see if it’s actually benefiting you. You need to do smart lifting that will affect your everyday activity. Doing bicep curls will do nothing for you, but pull ups and push ups utilize more than one muscle. Work on your primary muscles. Do pull ups, push ups, sit ups (not crunches), squats and lunges. This uses your whole body.
