How much resistance training do I need if I swim?

Question:

I’m a female and I currently do 1 hour of resistance training 1 or 2 times a week. I used to do it 3 times a week, but since I started swimming, I have cut back on resistance training since it seems that swimming incorporates both cardio and resistance. I currently swim about 1800 yards three times a week. Do I need to do more resistance training or does this seem like enough for a balanced programme. ( I play ice hockey on Saturdays)

It sounds like you’re doing quite a bit already. I think as long as you are getting in two resistance sessions a week, that you should be fine.
