Is “no ab workout” the best ab workout?
Question:
Serious answers only. My friend thinks no ab workout is the best ab workout. He claims that working all other muscle groups ( bench pressing, squats etc) is indirectly working your abs and that when you add up these indirect gains, it is enough work for your abs and that adding crunches is over working your abs. He says flexing your abs while lifting is enough and that doing abs is a “waste of time”. Is their any science/biology that proves your abs are being worked enough?
Answer:
You’re friend may be referring to compound exercises that work more than one muscle group at a time. But if you want to isolate only the ab muscles, then you have to do ab exercises. However, don’t spend your time doing only abs exercises because you’ll also need to do back exercises so your back muscles become as strong as your abs. Always maintain balance.
