I have a bad back. What exercises can i do to get rid of belly fat?

Q: I have been under a physicians care. His answer was to drink lots of water. Can I do Pilates or any kind of exercise to lose the belly fat?  I also can’t sit or stand very long  and have pain down both my legs.  Therefore jogging or walking is not an option for me at this time. Will dancing hurt me worse?

A:  Building muscle is the fastest way to lose fat because muscle feeds off the stored fat for energy.  Do low impact exercises with resistance bands.  The leg muscles are the largest muscles so you can do resisted squats with them.  Don’t arch your back.  Keep your pelvis tucked.  You can also do arm exercises and some back exercises.  When properly performed, you might not have any problems.  Are you over-weight?  When I was over-weight, my back and legs constantly hurt.  How’s your mattress?  I suggest you get a set of resistance bands.  Bodylastics has excellent free workouts on their site.  Click here to get more information about Bodylastics resistance bands

They also have free pilates workouts.  That will strengthen your core and build long, lean muscles, but Pilates is not a “fat loss” workout.
