What are pilates exercises? What do they do?

I’d love to lose some weight pretty quickly and tone up my muscles whilst doing it to feel better about myself. I am a little overweight for my height and I am on the pill at the moment so it would be beneficial for my health to lose some weight.
I’d love to know how to do pilates exercises so if anyone has knowledge of these, I would really appreciate if you gave me some info of what exercises i need to do.

Pilates works by combining breathing techniques with special stretches which focuses on improving the body’s core by making the body more flexible and stronger. However, it’s purpose is not to lose weight.
If you want to lose weight, aside from eating right, resistance training to build muscle will dramatically boost your weight loss far more than pilates can.
