What Can I Do To Look Great For Bikini Season?

Question:
Swimsuit season is coming and I want to get a head start on my workout to look good.
I was thinking about kickboxing..is that good? any good “at home” videos?
I also want to try Pilates. would that work?
Any other good workouts to do to lose a couple of inches before bikini season?

Answer:

Pilates will strengthen your core muscles, but it doesn’t really help with losing inches.

Kickboxing is a lot of cardio and that will help.

The best way to lose inches is with resistance training to build muscle. A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. DOH! But fat actually has more volume. So if two women both weigh the same, but one has excess fat and the other has lean muscle, even though they weigh the same, the women with the fat will appear much larger because fat takes up more room (volume) than muscle.
