What exercises are good for strengthening the back when you have injured it to build it back up?

 

Q: My dad recently badly injured his back and the doctor has told him to try swimming and other exercises to help build the muscle back up, only thing is I don’t know many other than some few yoga moves I learned at college.
Can anyone help??

A:  Do what phyical therapy clinics do – use resistance bands.  With Bodylastics bands your dad will be able to control the amount of tension so he doesn’t over-do it.  Adjustable tension will allow him to increase his back muscle strength.  However, he should also do front work on his abs, too, to support the new back strength.  Keep the skeletal frame in balance.
