Will I get good results if I train with my body weight two days out the week and with free wieghts one day?
A Visitor Asks This Question:
I work out three times a week. I want to know if its alright to train with my body weight for two of those three workouts, then use free weights to work those same muscles on the third day. Or should I just train with either my body weight or free weights only.

@lv_consultant, you say it depends and then you recommend 60 minutes of cardio. Makes no sense. That’s a lot of frickin cardio.
Sounds like the visitor might be going for strength and/or muscles. Instead of weights, try some adjustable resistance bands. You’ll get nice smooth resistance and you can still workout your entire body.
it depends on what your training goals are. I would stick with what you are doing and add in some high intensity cardio training 3-4x a week for 60 minutes. body weight training is great but it’s performed at a low level of intensity so there is not much of an increase in the metabolic rate after exercise. the greater the intensity of the training the greater the increase in the resting metabolic rate after exercise. there is always two parts to exercise when being used for fat loss. how much energy is being burned during exercise and even more importantly how much is being burned in the hours after exercise. for maximum fat loss exercise at a high level of intensity (75% of the VO2max) for 60-80 mintues.
